Takehiro Tomiyasu Names “Aggressive” Arsenal Teammate as Toughest to Face in Training
recently picked Gabriel Martinelli as the Arsenal teammate who is the most tough to face in training. Martinelli has been one of the Gunners’ attack leaders so far this season. In 27 games for Mikel Arteta’s team, he has seven goals and three assists.
The Brazilian forward’s playing style on the field is powerful, quick, and combative. Tomiyasu has recently disclosed that Martinelli maintains the same level of effort while training. The Japanese full-back told GOAL,
“Gabriel Martinelli. He never stops. He has pace, aggression. He’s still young, but when he has the ball he wants to make the difference, he wants to do something.”
Martinelli has made 111 appearances for Arsenal since joining the club in 2019, scoring 25 goals and giving 16 assists. Tomiyasu, on the other hand, has been a key player for the league leaders this season.

“Mikel knows about football, he knows about football structure, [he knows] everything. Our job is to just explain on the pitch what he says. I believe him. He’s just amazing. He’s the best manager I’ve ever played with. We understand more [about] Mikel’s football. We’ve got depth, we’ve got some new players, but the biggest thing is we understand Mikel’s football more than last season.” What is next for Arsenal?
Arsenal will play Everton in a Premier League away match on February 4th. While the Gunners just lost 1-0 to Manchester City in the FA Cup, they have been in excellent form in the Premier League.
Arteta’s team has won four of their last five games, the most recent being a 3-2 victory over Manchester United.
Jorginho, the freshly recruited Italian midfielder, might make his debut against Everton. Chelsea sold the player to Arsenal for €12 million.
It will be intriguing to see how he fits in with Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, and Martin Odegaard.
Jorginho recently commented on the move (via Fabrizio Romano):
“Yes, Arteta was a big influence for my transfer — I know that Mikel tried a few times to get me before and it didn’t happen, of course not because of my wishes.”
