Fans of MANCHESTER UNITED enjoyed watching Jadon Sancho and Erik Ten Hag share a lovely moment as the Dutchman hinted at a new role for the returning star.

After 102 days on the sidelines, the England international winger made his return for the Red Devils as United cruised into the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle.

The 22-year-old received a rousing applause as he entered the game in the 28th minute to help United defeat Nottingham Forest 2-0, clinching a 5-0 aggregate victory.

Sancho had not played since October 22 due to emotional and physical difficulties.

And Ten Hag lauded his recently returned star, who only recently resumed full training with the first team.

He said: “It’s good to have Jadon back.

It’s most important players enjoy football. It gives energy and that gives them the motivation to perform. The reception from the fans to him was great and that will also give him more of a push to continue.”

Ten Hag was ecstatic to see Sancho return, as the duo shared a chuckle on the sidelines before the Dutch coach gave the youngster a pat before he joined the contest.

The teenager could not keep a smile off his face as he took the field amid cries of “Sancho, Sancho” just after the hour mark.

Fans were quick to notice the affectionate embrace, with one writing, “Sancho’s smile and Ten Hag’s encouraging words were all I needed to witness.”

Someone else remarked, “Ten Hag with Sancho right there is the reason I admire him as a manager.”

While another remarked, “Sancho smiling with Ten Hag, cooking time!”

Sancho is typically deployed on the wing, but he played the No. 10 position tonight behind Anthony Martial.

Ten Hag then intimated that this could be his new position, adding, “Jadon, I know he can play as a number 10 and a winger. I appreciate that we can mix it up frequently.

Prior to Gareth Southgate omitting him from England’s World Cup team, the ex-Dortmund star’s last away match was on October 22 against Chelsea.

After reuniting with instructors with whom Ten Hag had previously worked in Qatar, Sancho was instructed to focus on an individualized training regimen.

Following his cameo, though, there looks to be a glimmer of hope for the aggressor.

And Ten Hag believes that Sancho can make a difference in the upcoming crucial games, stating, “He has already demonstrated this this season.

“For instance in the game against Liverpool he scored a great goal. He scored against Leicester, he had some good games like Spurs — so he already showed his great capabilities. He has high standards.”

Sancho even got a hug from Forest boss Steve Cooper, who was his manager as England won the Under-17 World Cup in 2017.
