No state should recognize Williams Ruto as President-elect – Makau Mutua.
Makau Mutua, spokesperson for Azimio la Umoja, has now stated that no state should recognize Deputy President William Ruto as president-elect.
On Sunday, Makau argued that the Supreme Court had yet to rule on who had rightfully won the elections.
“No state should recognize Williams Ruto as President-elect until all constitutional and legal processes are done in Kenya,” he said.
Makau’s remarks come after many heads of state congratulated Ruto on his election as president-elect, with some expressing confidence in his ability to lead.
“Doing so prior to the exhaustion of the processes is tantamount to subverting the rule of law. Very disappointed some African states have jumped the gun,” Makau said in a tweet.
On Thursday, Makau claimed that they do not recognize William Ruto as the president-elect.
He expressed confidence that the Azimio coalition would win the August 9 election.
“In our opinion, there is no valid or legally declared winner of the election. Perish the thought of a president-elect. We are completely unaware of this “On Spice FM, Makau stated.
He stated that Azimio will take legal action to validate their victory.
Mutua urged Azimio supporters to remain calm and firm while the coalition goes through legal proceedings.
