Five Students of Mukaa Boys High School in Makueni County, have been freed on a 500,000 shilling bond each. The 5 pleaded not guilty to arson attacks charges before Principal Magistrate Charles Mayamba of the Makindu law courts.
The 5 were among 12 others students who were arrested on Monday for allegedly burning down their dormitory. Police in Mukaa Sub-county says the arrested include six Form three students, four Form two, and two from Form one class.
Makueni County Police Commander Joseph Ole Naipeyan said there was a second attempt to burn another dormitory but the authorities in the school and police stopped them.
The other 7 students who did not appear in court were set free after being cleared of blame during investigations. Property of unknown value belonging to 100 students in Form one was destroyed.
The case will be mentioned on the 8th of June this year.
