According to Mr. Machogu, male candidates significantly outnumbered female candidates in four counties: Turkana, Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera.
In contrast, Marsabit, Isiolo, and Meru had a significantly larger number of female candidates than male candidates.
“Candidates can therefore collect their examination results from their respective examination centres.
“Individual candidate’s results can also be accessed by sending the candidate’s index number followed by the initials ‘KCPE’ to the SMS code 20076,” he said while officially releasing the results.
The 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results were announced by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.
The CS revealed that 1,233,852 candidates sat for the KCPE exam in 2022, with the highest candidate earning 431 points.
The total number of candidates who took the KCPE examination in 2022 was 1,233,852.
The best student scored 431 marks out of 9,443 candidates who scored between 400 and 500 marks.
According to the numbers presented by Machogu, 290,336 candidates scored less than 200 out of a possible 500 marks, while 724 candidates scored less than 100.
From the results released by the CS, only 9,443 candidates scored 400 or more marks, while 307,756 candidates scored between 300 and 399 marks.
619,593 candidates received between 200 and 299 out of 500 potential marks.
The CS indicated that the 2022 KCPE had a small number of instances of cheating due to a multi-agency effort across the country.
Machogu stated that the collaborative efforts of the Multi-Agency Examinations Team of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Interior and National Administration, ICT and Digital Economy, and the Teacher’s Service Commission ensured that the 2022 KCPE Examination was devoid of malpractices.
During the nationwide examination, he saw that 252 cases were registered in nine examination centers around the nation.
Nevertheless, Machogu added that, in accordance with the government’s policy of 100 percent transition, the students would receive their results, unlike in prior years.
