252 KCPE Students Awarded Zero Marks Due To Exam Malpractice.
Wednesday, Education CS Ezekiel Machogu said that 252 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education candidates implicated in exam irregularities would receive their results.
According to the CS, this would be done to achieve a complete secondary school transition.
“The candidates will receive their results and will transition to secondary school. This is in the spirit of 100 per cent transition,” he said.
Machogu, who revealed the KCPE results for 2022, stated that 252 were detected engaged in the vice in nine examination centers.
He noted that the candidates who engaged in academic dishonesty were not awarded any marks in the respective courses.
“Overall there were 252 candidates in 9 examination centres who were found to have engaged in malpractices.
“These candidates have been scored zero in subjects where they engaged in malpractices.
“None the less the affected students overall marks will be computed less the mark awarded in the affected subject.”
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu revealed the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results on Wednesday, December 21.
Machogu stated at Mtihani House that over 1.2 million students participated in the national tests that began on November 18, with the best student obtaining 431 marks.
Shortly after delivering the results to President William Ruto at the State House in Nairobi, Machogu made them public.
In particular, Machogu lauded Ruto for championing the successful administration of the examinations.
“All the candidates whose results I am releasing today will be admitted to Form One, under the 100 per cent transition policy,” he stated.
9443 pupils scored marks over 400. There were 307,756 students who scored between 300 and 399, and 699,596 students who scored between 200 and 299 marks.
