A 24-year-old man was arrested by police for the impersonation of a KCSE candidate after interrogation at an examination room in Nandi South.
Geoffrey Rono, the suspect, had sneaked into the examination center at Ndurio Secondary School in Aldai without the knowledge of the invigilators on duty.
Deputy County Commissioner Mr. John Tanui said the suspect sat for the English paper, which began at 8 a.m., without the school Identification Card, and was permitted to proceed and write the paper by the invigilator after pretending to have forgotten to bring it.
“Later, as the invigilator went around collecting the papers. It was discovered that the candidate had written incorrect information on the paper, prompting further investigation, which revealed that the suspect was not a candidate at the center “He told the story.
Rono was found to have conspired to take the final exams on behalf of Geoffrey Kavulavu, a student who registered at the school last year.
“We raised the alarm, and the police responded by arresting the suspect. The student’s index number was also suspended by the examination officials. Investigations have been launched to find out where the candidate registered last year is “Tanui stated.
